Skye have been designing & manufacturing radiation sensors for the UV to the Near Infra-Red since 1983. Our first sensor was the Red Far-red Sensor (SKR 110), which is used in plant phytochrome studies. Our light sensor range slowly expanded to include the traditional sensors for Photosynthesis research, Lux sensor, UV sensors, etc. As we gained insights into how plant & crop research was evolving as well as listening to the Researchers, we introduced a range of 2 & 4 channel sensors where the user could specify the wavelengths & bandwidths. Until recently we could only offer these bespoke sensors from 400 – 1000nm, however we are now able to include wavelengths up to 2300nm.
Now our sensors can be found in a wide variety of applications, such as in controlled environments, industrial installations, intelligent buildings, and so on.
Our sensors are available in completely waterproof versions, which can be used underwater, or in splashproof housings suitable for indoor locations.
Also available are different outputs to suit the meters, dataloggers, control panels to be employed, ie microamp, millivolt, voltage and 4-20mA outputs can be chosen.
All Skye light sensors are individually calibrated against a reference which is traceable to national standards, and each sensor is supplied with it’s own calibration certificate.
The following links below give further general information on our light sensors and the links on the right more detailed information about our light sensor range.
Light Sensor Underwater Lowering Frame
Skye Instruments’ underwater lowering frame allows users to take accurate radiation measurements underwater. Up to two sensors may be mounted on the frame. This accessory is designed to be very stable, even in high flows.

A choice of brackets are available for mounting Skye sensors on masts, walls, booms, etc.
Read MoreLevelling Unit
For accurate measurements of light levels sensors must be levelled. This levelling unit has a levelling bubble with levelling screws and can be used with Skye brackets or mounted on your own installations. There are versions available to suit all Skye light sensors.

SpectroSense2+.gps has all the features and functionality of SpectroSense2+, but with the addition GPS. Being able to record latitude & longitude at the same time as the light readings enables true field mapping. Data can be imported into proprietary 3D Graphing Software to produce very realistic maps of land use, crop cover, etc. The GPS… [Read More]
