The datalogger in the standard Minimet is powered by 6 internal ‘C’ cell batteries. These batteries power the station from 3-6 months depending on the logging frequency chosen & the number of times the logger is connected to a PC for offloading. Optional power supplies are available to extend battery life.
For installations that require more power than that supplied by the 1 watt Solar Hog. The Skye GSM communications option requires a larger power supply as does some sensors, such as the Windsonic. This option has been designed for installations where the Minimet is either located more than 50m. from the mains supply & PC or where the site is ‘electrically noisy’. A power supply option where mains power is available. In most installations the MiniMet will have a direct cable link to the Mains Hog which is located inside a building & next to the PC which is being used to offload the data .
